CENTRAL KALIMANTAN – Two conservation-themed events, collectively titled “Senyum Alam-Senyum Kita” (Nature’s Smile is Our Smile), went down at the PT Korintiga Hutani (KTH) office to commemorate the 2025 World Tree Day. These events were an arboretum naming contest and a photo competition focused on the beauty and biodiversity of forest concessions managed by KTH.

The company hoped to raise awareness on forest preservation in its workforce and local communities, while also keeping alive the breathtaking moments found at every corner of the woodlands.

Both winner announcements transpired Thursday (12/15/2025) at the office main lobby. President Director Hironobu Abe attended with his officials and other staff members.

The overall atmosphere was lively, and people could view the selected photos in a mini-exhibition at the lobby. Each work showcased the alluring charm of Kalimantan forest ecosystems, and participants vied for cash prizes and stay vouchers from the renowned Mercure Hotel in Pangkalan Bun (Central Kalimantan), the events’ main sponsor.

“They’re more than just contests — they’re a celebration of nature’s beauty and an effort to deepen our sustainability commitments. Our goal with these events is to affirm such commitments, and provide space for our employees and neighborhoods to create,” said Abe. “[KTH’s] arboretum symbolizes both conservation and a platform for unity that grows with the company. We’re very proud of the excitement shown by contestants as well as the extraordinary quality of their work. We hope this [photo contest] helps everyone tap into their creative potential.”

“Nature’s Smile is Our Smile” organizer and MC Reni Febriani expressed her joy and appreciation. “It’s KTH’s first photo exhibition, and it’s thrilling to see all the enthusiasm around snapping moments and capturing the enchanting local forests. Each work sends a strong message of saving nature for the future. We hope it will be a start to many more amazing events.”

Light refreshments wrapped up the day, bringing management and staff members closer. “Nature’s Smile is Our Smile” is expected to launch ongoing creative initiatives that further embed conservation values and strengthen bonds among PT Korintiga Hutani, its employees, and immediate communities.
