CENTRAL KALIMANTAN – PT Korintiga Hutani (KTH) has successfully celebrated its inaugural hybrid corn harvest, a key initiative to bolster the national food security program. On Friday (5/9/2025), a remarkable 557 tons of corn were harvested and distributed to the local community. This achievement is the result of a strong collaboration between KTH and two local farmer associations, the Dahas Tompas and Momben BalaKita Forest Farmer Groups.
This landmark harvest, conducted in partnership with two farmer groups from the nearby village of Panahan in North Arut District, West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan, is a cornerstone of KTH’s 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The initiative focuses on community empowerment and strengthening local food security, with the ultimate goal of achieving regional food self-sufficiency.

The harvest event was attended by KTH President Director Hironobu Abe and the company’s management team, alongside North Arut Deputy Chief of Police, Eko Sumarno, and his staff. Local residents also joined the festivities, welcoming the initiative with great enthusiasm.
This program is designed as a foundational step toward sustainable agriculture that actively involves the community. Continuous evaluation and development will be undertaken to ensure the program’s long-term success and improve future yields.
“This harvest is not just the fruit of hard work but also a symbol of new hope for food security in this region,” said Hironobu Abe. “We are committed to continuously evaluating and enhancing this program to deliver long-term benefits to the community.”
Meanwhile, the residents of Panahan have embraced the inaugural harvest with optimism.
“We are thrilled and proud to be part of this program. We hope this harvest marks the beginning of agricultural progress in our village and that it will continue long into the future,” shared Sari, a Panahan resident.
Driven by a spirit of collaboration and a commitment to sustainable development, KTH aims for this program to become an effective model for impactful community empowerment, paving the way for a more self-reliant and resilient agricultural sector. (PR)
