This assistance consisted of one ton of rice, 100 boxes of instant noodles, 25 boxes of tinned sardines, 150 boxes of mineral water, 100 boxes of medical face masks, and 1,000 liters of fuel (Solar and Dexlite) for the fire trucks.
Lamandau Regent Rizky Aditya Putra welcomed the gesture. KTH’s support would boost morale for task force members and volunteers, who continue to face fire threats in several parts of the regency, he said.
“These essentials will motivate our wildfire task force and individual volunteers as they fight the current disaster.”
As the region is expected to remain fire-prone until October, Rizky sees the need to strengthen existing measures. Ground teams have been especially struggling with issues like water source scarcity.
“Our challenge is [navigating] site conditions, particularly water availability for firefighting,” Rizky added when met at the Lamandau Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) office on Thursday (9/10).
The Regent expects support from all stakeholders, including companies in Lamandau. Corporate participation, he said, is integral to meeting the basic needs of ground team members as they work to mitigate fires.
“We hope other companies will follow Korintiga [KTH]’s example to assist fire control efforts.”
Meanwhile, KTH’s General Manager Rais Sugito said on behalf of Director Jongmyung Park that the aid aimed to ease firefighters’ burden during their battle with wildfires.
“We wish to relieve their burden, and that this [environmental] crisis can soon pass.” (lan)
