KALTENG POS – The long-term drought in parts of Lamandau Regency has begun to affect clean water supply for local communities. In Menthobi Raya District, this is especially felt after several water sources have dried up.

However, PT Korintiga Hutani (KTH) has also recently come to the rescue with a 20,000-liter water tanker that was dispatched to the district’s three villages.

The distribution on October 1, 2026, served Topalan Village, Lubuk Hiju Village, and Batu Ampar Village. Each place was allocated 10,000 liters, 5,000 liters, and 10,000 liters respectively.

This move reflected the company’s support for communities struggling with the drought, said KTH’s PR & Forest Community Empowerment Manager Erwansyah Ardi.

”In light of recent events, we, the PT Korintiga Hutani team, have come to provide clean water [for everyone]. As we all know, this dry season has been exceptionally long,” Erwansyah said at the distribution event.

The donation was also part of KTH’s efforts to meet the regency government’s mandate of helping affected residents.

Erwansyah hoped it could relieve daily needs throughout the dry spell. “We hope this will help. And it won’t be our only donation. There will be more distribution events, but for now, we can’t tell you the exact day or time. What’s certain is that we will continue to offer support during this period.”

The PR & Forest Community Empowerment manager helped dispense the water with the assistance of a ground team. At Topalan Village, KTH presented its aid to village leader Singpi and other village members.

Singpi praised KTH for the response to Topalan’s water concerns. “Thank you to Mr. Erwan [Erwansyah] and the PT Korintiga [Hutani] team for coming to Topalan and providing clean water. This will definitely allow our community to live better.”

Having this resource available is important to surviving through prolonged lack of precipitation and shrinking water sources. “Without clean water, it would be hard to meet daily needs. Thank you so much for the support.”

The overall reception was positive. Villagers said they now have supplies they can use to conduct household activities amid the shortage.

This donation is valuable to Topalans, not only because of its size, but also because it symbolizes KTH’s presence in times of the village’s troubles.

As Erwansyah said, the company is committed to a phased rollout of water assistance, while continually adjusting to shifting community needs and on-the-ground situations. (*)
