PANGKALAN BUN – PT Korintiga Hutani (KTH) extended its support to wildfire mitigation efforts in West Kotawaringin Regency.
The company brought bags of food essentials to the fire command hub at the West Kotawaringin Disaster Management Agency (BPBD Kobar) on Wednesday (9/9/2026).
At this visit, KTH representatives said they were willing to supply fuel for the local fire truck fleet to ease operations.
All donations were presented to West Kotawaringin Regent and Wildfire Mitigation Task Force leader Nurhidayah at the BPBD Kobar office.
Nurhidayah received them well and said KTH’s aid would be very valuable for firefighters.
“Your help will be highly valuable to our on-the-ground personnel. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation for the fuel support,” the Regent said.
These donations will be used effectively to sustain mitigation measures, especially as drought continues this year with no end in sight, Nurhidayah added. When combined, stakeholder actions can expedite fire containment and clear West Kotawaringin skies of smoke.
“We will make the best possible use of this support. Once again, thank you to PT Korintiga Hutani, because we don’t know when this dry season will end.”
Current challenges to fire control include accessibility — where fire spots sit far from main roads — and the lack of water sources.
Getting around these issues requires a great deal of effort and energy, something that KTH’s donations can hopefully replenish, said KTH’s Director Jongmyung Park.
Items delivered to the fire command hub spanned from 1,000 kgs of rice, 4,000 packs of instant noodles, 150 boxes of mineral water, 1,250 tins of sardines and other fish, to 100 boxes of medical face masks.
KTH’s General Manager Rais Sugito said providing staples was the company’s response to the ongoing disaster. This assistance for the fire command hub was rolled out alongside security patrols around the company’s concession areas and the villages within them.
“We hope to spread goodness and help get the fires under control.”
The donation ceremony at the BPBD Kobar office also featured the chief executive of BPBD Kobar, director of Tanjung Puting National Park, as well as the heads of West Kotawaringin’s Department of Fire and Rescue, Department of Communication and Informatics, Department of Health, and Municipal Police.
