PANGKALAN BUN, radarsampit.jawapos.com – PT Korintiga Hutani has demonstrated its commitment to the mitigation efforts regarding Forest and Land Fires (Karhutla) in West Kotawaringin Regency (Kobar).
The company distributed basic staple food assistance to the Main Command Post for Forest and Land Fire Management at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Office of West Kotawaringin on Wednesday (September 9, 2026).
In addition to the staple food provisions, PT Korintiga Hutani also affirmed its readiness to supply fuel support to facilitate the operational activities of the fire engines.
The assistance was formally handed over by the management of PT Korintiga Hutani at the West Kotawaringin BPBD Office and received directly by the Regent of West Kotawaringin, Hj. Nurhidayah, in her capacity as the Commander of the West Kotawaringin Forest and Land Fire Mitigation Task Force.
Regent Nurhidayah welcomed and expressed high appreciation for the support provided by PT Korintiga Hutani. She noted that the assistance is of significant value in fulfilling the necessities of on-ground personnel executing fire mitigation duties.

“This assistance is highly valuable to support the needs of our personnel whilst conducting fire management operations in the field. Beyond the staple food distribution, we extend our highest appreciation to PT Korintiga Hutani for their willingness to supply fuel to support the operations of our fire engines during these mitigation efforts,” stated Nurhidayah.
She further mentioned that the received aid will be utilized optimally to support the ongoing fire mitigation operations, particularly given the current uncertainty regarding the conclusion of the dry season.
Nurhidayah expressed her hope that collaborative support from various stakeholders will accelerate the mitigation of the forest and land fires, thereby restoring clear, smoke-free skies over West Kotawaringin.
“We will ensure this assistance is utilized as effectively as possible. Once again, we express our gratitude to PT Korintiga Hutani, as it remains uncertain when the current dry season will conclude,” she remarked.
She added that field personnel continue to face several operational challenges, which include fire locations situated far from main arterial roads and a scarcity of accessible water sources.
The Director of PT Korintiga Hutani, Park Jong Myung, expressed his hope that the provided assistance would be highly beneficial and effectively support the mitigation of forest and land fires in West Kotawaringin.
The distributed aid comprised 1,000 kilograms of rice, 4,000 packets of instant noodles, 150 cartons of mineral water, 1,250 cans of sardines, and 100 boxes of face masks.
During the occasion, Rais Sugito, the General Manager of PT Korintiga Hutani, stated that the assistance represents the company’s proactive response in supporting fire management efforts.
In addition to securing the company’s concession areas, including the ring one zone, PT Korintiga Hutani is also committed to contributing to broader fire mitigation operations through its continued support for the main command post.
“It is our collective hope that this assistance will yield a positive impact and that the forest and land fire situation in West Kotawaringin can be effectively controlled,” he concluded.
The handover of the assistance was officially witnessed by the Chief Executive of the West Kotawaringin BPBD, the Head of the Fire and Rescue Department, the Head of the Communication and Informatics Office, the Head of the Health Office, the Head of the West Kotawaringin Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and the Head of the Tanjung Puting National Park (TNTP) Agency.
