Hundreds of seedlings were set in the ground on Monday (6/29/2026), with varieties ranging from mangrove, cempedak, and durian to mulberry. Participants included the company’s management, especially Chip Mill Division Director Mr. Gapyoung Song, staff members, and partners.
“World Environment Day is more than a ceremony. It’s a reminder that every tree we plant today is an investment in the climate and [in the future] for the sake of our children and grandchildren,” said Mr. Song. “We believe the industry and environment must grow together.”
Empowered by the slogan “Time to Work for the Climate” (Saatnya Bekerja untuk Iklim), KTH doubled down on its role as an industrial plantation forest company that’s responsible for environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.
This year’s planting event forms part of a long-term commitment to increasing green cover, safeguarding biodiversity, and supporting Indonesia’s progress toward its emissions-reduction targets. That Monday, participants were seen wearing KTH and Oji safety helmets, which symbolize an alignment with OSH and sustainability principles.
“Time to Work for the Climate” means taking tangible actions to initiate environmental change, said KTH executive Budi Pitaya. These actions are planting, caring for, and preserving forest areas.
“We are committed to implementing sustainability throughout our supply chain. This planting event [also] reflects our core values: empowerment, harmony, and abundance, both for the local ecosystems and the people. One tree today, a better forest tomorrow.”
PT Korintiga Hutani will continue its land rehabilitation and environmental education programs for its immediate communities in 2026. The company sees protecting the environment as beyond its responsibility — to KTH, it’s an ongoing work to ensure natural resources remain available for use by future generations. (PR)
