NEW CUTTINGS: PT. Korintiga Hutani’s director Park Jong Myung and his wife take part in the first planting at the celebration of Indonesian Tree Planting Day
PANGKALAN BUN, radarsampit.com – For this year’s Indonesian Tree Planting Day on November 28, industrial forest company PT Korintiga Hutani transplanted trees to Plot 231 J, a part of its concession. This is an annual activity undertaken by the entire company, where partners, vendors, and contractors are also invited to participate.

PT Korintiga Hutani director Park Jong Myung started the planting, followed by the board of directors, general manager, Deputy General Manager Rais Sugito, and staff. “Planting trees is part of our [PT Korintiga Hutani] job to maintain environmental sustainability,” Park said.
Environmental changes are now an international issue, as faster global warming brings disaster everywhere. By planting trees, the company becomes part of the solution. “We care about the environment. We hope the young trees we plant today have economic value that will help combat global environmental issues.”
A new clone of Eucalyptus pellita was used for the event. ID 63 x 43-01 is a new cutting developed by PT Korintiga Hutani’s R&D Division, which according to R&D and Nursery Manager Purwaningsih Mega HF has a faster growth rate compared to previous cuttings and other Eucalyptus species. It also comes with larger increments, grows in wetlands and mineral soil, and possesses stronger roots.
“We will focus on growing this clone for the sawn timber industry, aside from pulp,” she said.
At the celebration, pesticide vendor PT. Nufarm Indonesia brought door prizes like refrigerators, washing machines, electric fans, and water dispensers that were raffled off and given directly to lucky employees. (sam/yit)
