TANJUNG KELUANG – OJI Group company Korintiga Hutani celebrated the 16th World Mangrove Day with conservation activities at Tanjung Keluang Nature Park, Central Kalimantan. The event in partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Division (part of Indonesia’s Environment Ministry and Forestry Ministry) and Antakusuma University took place right on the special day on July 26.
Participants included communities trained by the Natural Resources Conservation Division, Antakusuma lecturers and students, and Korintiga Hutani executives and staff members. Together, they demonstrated a collective commitment to coastal area protection and restoration.
The activities spanned from mangrove planting to hawksbill turtle hatchling release. Around 400 seedlings of mangrove were sown across Tanjung Keluang’s coastal rehabilitation zones, and later participants let the hatchlings make their way into the open sea as part of efforts to preserve protected species.

“[Like so], today’s events reflect our contribution to environmental longevity and build synergy with local communities and learning institutions,” said Korintiga Hutani’s Director Park Jong Myung in his greetings.
Meanwhile, Antakusuma University’s Vice Rector-I Agus Suparji said that it’s important that the activities continue as a hands-on learning experience for the students. “It’s a positive action that ties in with local conservation education work, specifically that revolves around mangroves.”
In the spirit of conservation and education, this three-way collaboration seeks to inspire more stakeholders to take part in mangrove and marine safeguarding. Both mangrove and marine ecosystems play a vital role in sustaining life. (PR)
