West Kotawaringin’s vice regent and regional secretary award CBI Group and Korintiga Hutani for their role in reducing unemployment and opening jobs in the region
PANGKALAN BUN – West Kotawaringin Regency Government recently awarded two companies with a major contribution to unemployment reduction. Vice Regent Suyanto presented the plaques at the start of career expo Job Fair Kolaborasi to winners CBI Group and Korintiga Hutani Saturday (4/26).
This state award recognizes private companies that provide job opportunities, said the acting leader of West Kotawaringin Manpower and Transmigration Service, Yudhi Hudaya.
“CBI Group and PT Korintiga Hutani have played a big role in lowering unemployment rates [in West Kotawaringin]. Both firms have hired more than 5,000 workers through various partnership schemes [with local institutions],” Hudaya explained.
Yet, challenges remain as West Kotawaringin residents and new jobseekers increase annually. It’s why the regency government continues reaching out to businesses and creating jobs through public-private programs, Hudaya added. Especially since employment opportunities are no longer local in scale.
Around 20 people have been sent to Japan, demonstrating the programs’ success.
“It proves that jobseekers from Kobar [West Kotawaringin] are able to compete internationally. Japan has a strict selection process, so this achievement motivated other locals to improve their competence,” he said.
At the event, Hudaya also highlighted a huge challenge faced by the state: providing jobs for around 10,000 vocational high school graduates. While his team is ready to help with this process, support is needed from graduates themselves to upskill and prepare for the job market.
“We hope these new graduates have proper competencies. Human resource quality is key to company and regional progress, so we encourage everyone to continue learning and honing their skills to be immediately hired,” Hudaya ended his speech. (sam/yit)
