CENTRAL KALIMANTAN – Minister of Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, Kenji Enoshita, visited PT Korintiga Hutani (KTH)’s site with fellow delegates on Thursday (3/5/2026). The two-day event is part of efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between KTH and Japan in sustainable forest management and local education improvement.

Enoshita and his group were welcomed by KTH’s President Director Hironobu Abe and his officials. Abe took the time to praise the dedication the guests showed to promote forest conservation.

“We greatly value your support for sustainable forestry and better education for local communities. This visit marks a crucial moment for us to demonstrate our sustainable forestry commitments and strengthen our key partnership with Japan. We believe support for local education is central to sustainability.”

Day one had the delegates embark on an inspection tour of KTH’s mill, community plantation forest (hutan tanaman rakyat) and protected forest area before finishing up with tree planting — a symbol of shared commitment to conservation.

On the second day, Enoshita’s group continued their tour to KTH’s nursery and Rimba Pelita Elementary, a school supported by KTH. The guests were greeted by smiling students and teachers, creating a friendly atmosphere.

“We’re very impressed with how KTH keeps its forest areas as they are and supports local education. This synergy will not only lead to stronger bilateral relations, but also to positive outcomes for the next generation,” said Enoshita.

The visit, which leaves a deep impression on KTH, marks an important milestone in the company’s ties with Japan, forest preservation efforts, and education development efforts in its operational areas. (PR)
