Kotawaringin News, Lamandau – PT Korintiga Hutani (KTH) demonstrated its commitment to get involved in road infrastructure development in the Lamandau Regency.
The industrial forest company has recently finished a road project that connects Lubuk Hiju, Topalan, and Batu Ampar, three villages in Menthobi Raya Subdistrict in Lamandau. The project is part of KTH’s CSR program, run under a consortium scheme.
Its launch was marked by the signing of minutes of handover for construction, improvement, and maintenance work on the 19,283 km road. Lamandau Regent Hendra Lesmana and KTH Director Park Jong Myung performed the ceremony at Lubuk Hiju on Thursday, August 31st, 2023.
Proper and functional roads, said KTH Deputy General Manager Rais Sugito, are a necessity for village communities, in that they drive economic growth.
“With the handover today, we hope to ease the flow of goods and mobility between villages, subdistricts, and regencies to improve the local economy,” he said.
The project was initiated by the regent and included in a work plan that aims to meet Lamandau citizens’ basic needs.
“We want to thank the residents, village governments, Menthobi Raya government, and most importantly the Regent for his program, which has allowed us to do our part in boosting community welfare.”
Sugito added that construction is now complete, with the next stages of the project handed over to the regency government. The road is 19,283 km long and 16 m wide.
“In the spirit of bahaum bakuba (meaning ‘everyone is equal’), we also hope to maintain ties with the locals and the regional government, so we can bring prosperity and achieve the Lamandau Juara (Lamandau as Champion) vision”.

Addressing demands from rural societies is indeed a “priority” for Lesmana’s government, the regent affirmed. He pledged to come up with more programs and schemes.
“But we need everyone’s ideas, innovations, and participation, especially from the business community. Our budget is limited, and we cannot cover every demand,”
He appreciated local firms’ contribution to supporting public development projects, particularly those touching upon the needs of villages.
“I’d like to thank and give my utmost respect to KTH for its CSR program [connecting road construction],”
Good road access will benefit locals, he said. “Besides improving passenger and goods mobility, it positively affects the economy and other sectors. The impact this would create is greater prosperity.” (BH)
