PT KORINTIGA Hutani (KTH) proclaimed Every Day Green by conducting mangrove reforestation. PT Korintiga Hutani as an Industrial Forest Plantation (HTI) company with its headquarters located at Wisma Korindo 12th Floor, M.T. Haryono Street, Kav 62, Jakarta started its operation since 1998 in West Kotawaringin (Kobar) and Lamandau Regency, Central Kalimantan.
The main crops of PT Korintiga Hutani are Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Pellita) and Acacia (Acacia Mangium) which are planted in an area of 97,850 hectares. The yields of main crops in the HTI are used as raw materials for Primary Industry of Wood Forest Products (IPHHK), such as wood chips, veneers, sawn timbers and wood pellets.
As a form of environmental awareness, PT. Korintiga Hutani Natai Peramuan industrial site, at Kumai Hulu sub-district, Kobar, launched Every Day Green by holding reforestation activities. Among them are the plantings of Mangrove and Eucalyptus Pellita.
The greening activity was attended by the Head of Forestry Service of Kobar, Molta Dena, the Secretary of Environmental Agency, M. Akil Nur, and General Manager, Kim Jin Nam, on Wednesday (10/12). Kim Jin Nam, the Head of Forestry Office, the Secretary of Environmental Agency and the other guests symbolycally joined the Mangrove trees planting.
The planting activity is a series of similar events that held previously in June 2014. The first planting period involved a planting of 550 Mangrove seedlingsin Kumai River border with a planting area of approximately 1 hectare. For the second period of planting, on Wednesday (10/12), PT KTH planted 1000 seedlings of Mangrove in 1.5 hectares of land and 7,500 seedlings of Eucaliptus.
“This is a form of concern from PT KTH for the environment, this is the image of the company. Every Day Green can be realized with reforestation activities,” said the General Manager/HRD Joseph T. Meteray.
According to Joseph, in addition to planting Mangroves, PT Korintiga also planted Eucalyptus Pellita. This is a concrete evidence that PT Korintiga is a company that cares about the environment.
“In principle, KTH is still holding on to the Every Day Green motto. There is not a day, time, or year without greening,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Forestry Service of West Kotawaringin sub-district, Molta Dena, said that the local government basically welcomes and appreciates the company’s activities in environmental conservation in Bumi Marunting Batu Aji.
This activity supports the “one billion trees planting” program. The movement is comprehensive, not only initiated by the government but all parties, both communities and companies. Therefore the government through the Forest Service of Kobar district greatly appreciates the activities conducted by Korintiga.
“We hope this kind of activity is not only done by KTH but can motivate all of the other stakeholders,” Molta Dena said.
Molta Dena also invites companies to do similar activities with the aim of encouraging the one billion trees planting program to restore our environment for a balanced and sustainable condition. (Mg-9/B-1)
