NANGA BULIK – Lamandau Regency Government facilitated a revenue sharing process for PT Korintiga Hutani and farming group association Hutan Maju Bersama Bahaum Thursday (12/20/2023). All the funds were generated under a forestry partnership that involves both sides. Hutan Maju Bersama Bahaum members from Bulik, Sematu Jaya, and Menthobi Raya subdistricts made their presence at the event.
“Today’s revenue sharing ceremony is our [PT Korintiga Hutani’s] commitment to the deal made together [by us and the association],” said PT Korintiga Hutani’s deputy general manager Rais Sugito.
He hoped the partnership would benefit nearby settlements in terms of prosperity and improve the local investment climate.
As is known, the Lamandau government inked an MoU with the company on December 21, 2022. The MoU entailed a forestry partnership with local forestry farmer groups or a farmer group association covering 12 villages and 1 urban village in PT Korintiga Hutani’s 1,987-ha concession. After a year of disseminating information and educating farmers on the partnership scheme, the groups finally established Tani Hutan Maju Bersama Bahaum on October 2, 2023. The association has 486 members, in line with Lamandau regent’s decree.
“Today, we have disbursed a total of 1,264,303,872 IDR,” he said.
This handover is mandated by Environment and Forestry Ministerial Regulation 9/2021 (on Social Forestry with Partnership Scheme), PT Korintiga Hutani’s forest utilization work plan (RKUPH) for 2021-2030, and the company’s annual work plan for 2021-2022. So far, only PT Korintiga Hutani has complied with the regulation through its industrial forest partnership.
The disbursed amount is the amount listed in the firm’s annual forest utilization work plan (RKTPH) for 2021-2022. Meanwhile, funds for the 2023-2024 period will be granted next year.
This event was held to provide empowerment and welfare programs for people living close to the forests, said Lamandau’s interim regent Lilis Suriani. Part of such programs opens access to the benefits reaped from forest use by PT Korintiga Hutani.
“Forestry partnership is one of the schemes within the social forestry system that aims at resolving conflicts regarding forest resources use and ownership between forest managers and locals,” Suriani said.
This scheme allows neighboring communities to take part in sustainable forest management initiatives and maintain environmental balance.
“Congratulations to all beneficiaries and I hope you can use these funds well to improve your welfare. We will also be awarding PT Korintiga Hutani with a plaque for its participation in enhancing the prosperity of forest-adjacent neighborhoods.” (mex/sla)
