KTH’s forest road network is fully integrated with surrounding villages, playing a vital role in enhancing local economic development and improving the livelihoods of rural communities. These roads provide critical access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and government services, enabling villagers to participate more actively in the regional economy. By reducing transportation costs and travel time, the improved infrastructure allows farmers and small businesses to sell their products more efficiently, leading to higher incomes and increased economic opportunities.
Beyond opening its 3,000 km of private forest roads for public use, KTH actively participates in road construction projects that further connect remote communities. Through a consortium initiative, KTH has contributed to building 50 km of additional village roads over three phases, significantly improving trade, mobility, and access to essential services.
