Community Development

Community Forest

KTH serves as a successful model in promoting community forestry development, aligning with Indonesia’s social forestry policy. This policy, introduced by the Indonesian government, aims to empower local communities by granting them access to forest resources while ensuring sustainable management. Through this initiative, communities are encouraged to participate in forestry activities that provide both economic benefits and environmental sustainability.

By collaborating with local residents, KTH purchases timber harvested by the community and supports this process by providing seedlings free of charge and offering training on plantation management. Additionally, KTH assists in establishing a certification management system to help local communities produce certified timber sustainably.

KTH also participates in the Kemitraan (partnership) program, an initiative by the Indonesian government that facilitates cooperation between forestry companies and local communities. This program ensures that communities benefit economically from forest plantations while contributing to responsible forest management. Under this scheme, KTH shares a portion of its revenue with partner communities, allowing them to invest in local development projects, such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure improvements. Through these efforts, KTH not only enhances socio-economic well-being but also reinforces sustainable forestry practices in the region.
